Amir Elahi, a historic figure in the world of cricket, left an indelible mark on his sport. Born on September 1st, 1908, in Lahore, British India (now Pakistan), he was one of the few cricketers to feature for two different countries – India and Pakistan.

Early Domestic Career

In the 1930s, Elahi joined Forman Christian College and cut his teeth at this level of domestic cricket. He soon outperformed many players with his significant bowling skills, using googly as his primary weapon. His consistent performance led him to represent Northern India regularly.

Unfortunately, India lost that match held in Sydney by an innings but Elahi’s debut performance made everyone take notice of this emerging star. Despite good performances in some games, Elahi struggled to solidify his position within the Indian side due to intense competition among spinners during those years.

International Career with Pakistan

In the year 1952, Elahi made a historic decision which changed the direction of his cricketing journey. He moved to Pakistan and represented the newly formed cricket team globally, becoming one of the first cricketers to play internationally from both India and Pakistan. His indisputable skill shone bright against England in Nottingham.
