- These consistent performances led him being selected for Maharashtra Governor’s XI against Pakistan Services & Bahawalpur Cricket Association team during their Indian visit in Nov/Dec 1954; though this wasn’t an international match it did mean that he was recognised among best players of those times.
- Apte ended his first-class career with an impressive 3,336 runs from 86 matches at an average of 38.79.
