Nehra’s journey began at Salwan Public School when he realized an intense love for the game. His talent was recognized by coach Tarak Sinha, who then crafted and honed him into the player he later became.

  • In 1999, Ashish made his international debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo Test series.
  • 2003 World Cup: One of his notable performances that bolstered his fame was during this cup when he took six wickets conceding only 23 runs against England.
  • In the T20 International (2011), he showcased impeccable performance where he picked up three crucial wickets. This led to India’s victory over Pakistan in the final match of World Cup T20.
  • Overall in his illustrious career spanning almost two decades, Nehra claimed 235 international wickets across all formats. He played 120 ODIs taking 157 wickets and also appeared in 17 test matches seizing 44 wickets.
  • Ashish announced retirement from all forms of cricket following the first T20 International against New Zealand held at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi on November 1, 2017.
