Bumrah began his career playing for the Gujarat team during the 2012–13 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He quickly caught the eye with an impressive performance against Mumbai. In this match, he claimed three wickets conceding only fourteen runs that led him to the spotlight. His consistent performances in domestic tournaments paved the way for his entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL) where he represented Mumbai Indians since 2013.
