Born on November 25th, 1982, Goswami developed an interest in cricket at a very young age after watching the 1992 Cricket World Cup. However, their courage bore fruit when Jhulan joined a local cricket academy at the tender age of ten. She eventually moved to Kolkata (then Calcutta) – almost three hours away from her hometown – to pursue training at more professional levels.
International Career And Achievements
In 2005, Goswami burst onto the international scene with her ferocious bowling speed averaging over 120 km/h. Thereon began her journey as one of Females International Cricket’s greatest bowers. Some noteworthy highlights include:
- The First Woman Cricketer: She became the first woman cricketer to take 200 ODI wickets for which she received numerous accolades.
- Highest Wicket Taker:To date holds the record for being highest wicket taker in Women’s One Day Internationals (ODIs) (200 plus).
