Khanmohammad Ibrahim is a cricketing legend, often dubbed as the ‘Original Little Master’ due to his exceptional batting proficiency at an early age. He was born in Poona, British India on July 11, 1919 (now Pune, Maharashtra, India), and immigrated to Pakistan after partition. Despite having lived through circumstances ridden with socio-political unrest, Mr. Khanmohammad’s passion for cricket never faltered.

Raised in a family of cricketers, where both his father and brother were accomplished players at their respective time; it would be no surprise that young Khanmohammad also found himself attracted towards this sport. At the tender age of just twelve, he entered the world of professional cricket by playing for Sydenham College.

  • In October 1938, Khanmohammad played a remarkable innings scoring 222 runs against Kathiawar while representing Western India,
  • In November 1944 during Rohinton Baria Trophy finals held in Bombay Gymkhana , he amassed record-breaking score of 218 not out,a feat thats stays unbroken till today,
  • Khanmohammad represented Indian cricket team in first class matches but could never play test match for the national side.

Migrating to Pakistan

After partition in August 1947, Khanmohammad decided to move to Karachi, Pakistan. Here he continued playing cricket and remained associated with the game in various capacities such as a commentator, selector for national team etc.

Death & Legacy

Khanmohammad passed away at an early age of 44 on November 12, 1963 due to sudden cardiac arrest. Despite his untimely death, memories of his stellar performances remain etched in the hearts of fans around the world.
