Born on 21st February 1937, Kumar Shri Indrajitsinhji Madhavsinhji Sahib Bahadur, fondly known as Kumar Indrajitsinhji was raised in Rajkot, Gujarat. He belonged to the Jadeja dynasty and was additionally related to two other indian cricketers Ranjitsinhji and Duleepsinhji, who were also popular figures in this field. Indrajitsinhji had cricket running in his bloodline which substantiated his talents since childhood.

  • He made his debut for Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy at the age of 20 against Maharashtra where he smashed an unbeaten century.
  • Indrajitsinhjj played first-class cricket mainly for Cambridge University and Sussex between 1957 and 1964 showing commendable batting skills.
  • His Test debut came up versus England on June 15th, 1967. His last test match wore off on December 16, 1971, against England once again.
  • In total he played four Test matches as the wicketkeeper-batsman amassing 90 runs with average reaching up to fifteen.
  • Furthermore, during his span of professional cricket play-offs from year ’57 to year ’72, he appeared in a whopping 74 test matches.
  • Out of these games, 34 were displayed on international grounds and the remaining at personal venues.

Even though Kumar Indrajitsinhji’s career ended abruptly due to health issues, till this date, he remains an inspirational figure in India’s cricket history.
