  • Possessing exceptional skills with the bat allowed him to accumulate over 7,988 runs during his first-class career which spanned over slightly more than a decade—from 1985–1998.

Moving On: The Coaching Career

Rajput’s involvement in cricket did not end after hanging up his playing shoes. Staying within the game he loved, Lalchand Rajput transitioned into a coaching role.

His first significant assignment was manoeuvring the Indian Under-19 team during their tour to England. His guidance led the squad to victory in both Test matches and one-day series.

Rajput then moved onto bigger things when he assumed the position of Manager for the victorious Indian cricket team which won the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007.

A Legacy Carved

  • Beyond national reaches, Lalchand Rajput has also contributed internationally by working as the head coach of Afghanistan’s national cricket team where he guided them through their Test debut against India.
  • In late 2018, he accepted an offer from Zimbabwe Cricket to serve as their interim head coach making it clear that for Rajput, the journey continues…
