Madan Lal was born on 20th March 1951 in Amritsar, Punjab. He developed an early interest in cricket which led him to pursue it professionally. Although he faced many difficulties earlier in life due to limited resources, his passion for the game drove him all along.

Career Highlights

  • In November 1974, he made his Test debut against England in Manchester.
  • In the year 1983, La played a significant role in helping India win its first Cricket World Cup. In one of the key matches that led to their championship victory, he picked up crucial wickets setting a strong pace throughout the match.
  • Lal achieved outstanding performance statistics with ball and bat alike during his professional career – in tests; he scored approximately 1,042 runs and took around 71 wickets while his ODI statistics record nearly 401 runs scored and 73 wickets taken.
