Raised in Baroda, Nayan Mongia nurtured his love for cricket from a very young age. After showing promise while playing for local teams, he made his debut appearance in domestic cricket in the late 1980s. He played for Baroda at the Ranji Trophy where he showcased his stellar wicket-keeping talent along with a solid batting display.
