Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born into a humble background where sports were not given much importance, Poonam’s talent shone through at a young age nonetheless. Her entry into professional cricket began whenshe was invited to join Uttar Pradesh’s under-19 team after performing brilliantly in an inter-school tournament at Lucknow Public School. She debuted professionally for Uttar Pradesh against Orissa in November 2007.

• In 2010, following consistent performances domestically, Yadav earned her place in the senior India Women’s squad.
• Poonam made her international debut in April 2013 versus Bangladesh in a T20 fixture where she took three wickets for just nine runs from three overs and showed incredible potential.
• In August that same year, she made her ODI (One Day International) debut against England but failed to take any wicket in the match.
