Born on December 8th, 1989 into a family with no background in cricket or any other competitive sport, Rasanara’s passion was enough to overcome these initial hurdles. Her journey into cricket is similar to that of millions of Indian children playing gully (street) cricket across the country. She displayed an inherent talent right from her early days when she used to play cricket with boys twice her age.

Inspired by some of the most reputed names in international cricket like Sachin Tendulkar and Mithali Raj, Rasanara decided to pursue this sport professionally. She made her domestic debut in Indian Women’s Cricket Team during the Senior National Women’s Cricket Championship in Jammu & Kashmir held in October 2010 where she represented Orissa team.
Her ability to maintain superb consistency both as a batter and a bowler helped her impart vital contributions towards her team’s victories over the years. After years of unremitting perseverance and practice, she finally received her long-awaited opportunity to represent India internationally which unfortunately got postponed due to injuries.

Sadly, after getting selected for an upcoming tour against West Indies in 2012, she suffered a major injury that took her away from the playground for several months. Once recovered, she bounced back by scoring half-centuries and picking up wickets which once again caught the selectors’ attention. Unfortunately, luck was not on her side, as this time around before the West Indies tour in 2014, she suffered another severe blow to her shoulder which kept her off-field for almost an entire year.
