Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja, popularly known as Ravindra Jadeja, is an eminent figure in the world of cricket. Playing a dual role as a left-handed middle-order batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Jadeja has contributed significantly to both domestic and international cricket for India.

Early Life and Domestic Career

Born on December 6, 1988, in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India, he started playing cricket from a very young age and made his debut in first-class cricket in the 2006-07 season for Saurashtra. Since then, his consistent performances led him to gain attention at the national level. Notably, Jadeja was part of the victorious Indian U-19 cricket team that won the World Cup in Malaysia in 2008. In domestic tournaments like IPL (Indian Premier League), he plays for Chennai Super Kings where he played under MS Dhoni’s leadership and developed successful partnership.

Making his debut into ODI (One Day Internationals) against Sri Lanka in February 2009, Jadeja’s journey began as an all-rounder who could bat lower down the order and bowl full quota of overs if required. His Test match debut came four years later against England. Throughout his career, Jadeja proved himself a vital player with exceptional fielding skills along with his dexterity at bowling and batting. The highlight of his test career would be when he became number one bowler in ICC Test rankings in August 2017.

  • ODI Career: He has played over 168 matches and taken more than 188 wickets. His best bowling figures stand at 5/36.
  • Test Career: In test cricket, Jadeja has a stellar record of taking over 220 wickets in just about 51 games with his career-best figures being 7/48.
  • T20I Career: Although known less for his T20 International exploits, he garnered more than 39 wickets in the F1 format of cricket.

  • In July 2019, he was one of the key players included in India’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup where he gave his career-best ODI performance under pressure scoring an impressive quickfire innings against New Zealand.
  • Jadeja has won several ‘Man of the Match’ awards in international cricket across all formats.
  • In December 2020, during Australia’s tour to India, Ravindra Jadeja scored his first Test match double hundred whilst representing Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy.
    jadeja picked up nine wickets and scored an unbeaten century during that game to take his team to victory single-handedly.
  • Besides these individual feats, Jadeja has also been part of winning squads in important tournaments such as Champions Trophy in 2013 and multiple IPL seasons with Chennai Super Kings.

Ravindra is known for his flamboyant lifestyle off-field and is deeply passionate about horses and owns a stud farm in Jamnagar. He is married to Riva Solanki in 2016 with whom he has a daughter named Nidhyana.
