The Indian cricket landscape is replete with numerous magnificent cricketers, one such amazing exemplar of sheer talent and determination was Rusi Framroze Surti. Born on May 25, 1936, in Surat, Gujarat—Surti was a renowned all-rounder who served the Indian cricket team during its olden days.
Early Life and Debut
Surti grew up developing his skills for cricket eventually making it into the state team. His first-class debut occurred when he began playing for Gujarat at the young age of 20 in the late 1950s. For over fifteen years, Surti played first-class cricket amassing phenomenal numbers that were simply awe-inspiring.
International Cricket Career
Rusi Surti‘s international career kicked off on December 13,1960, where he participated as a part of Indian squad against Pakistan in Mumbai (Bombay). Over his career period from 1960 to 1969,Surti earned his reputation as an exceptional all-rounder representing India in twenty-six test matches contributing significantly both with bat and ball.
- In total, he scored 1263 test runs including nine fifties at an average rate of 28.70.
