S. Sreesanth is an iconic Indian cricketer who played all forms of the game. He was a right-arm fast-medium-pace bowler and a right-handed tail-ender batsman. Sreesanth had represented India in both Test Matches and One Day Internationals (ODI).

  • In 2006, during his test debut against England, he took six wickets with astonishing figures.

Sreesanth‘s career came under serious dispute when he was charged for spot-fixing during the 2013 season of Indian Premier League(IPL). The controversy followed when Sreesanth along with two other players from Rajasthan Royals were arrested by Delhi police on charges of spot-fixing.

BCCI immediately suspended him from playing any form of cricket pending inquiry into his alleged involvement in betting. In September 2013, BCCI imposed life ban on him from representing not only Team India but also any other BCCI-affiliated team domestically.

Despite being embroiled in controversy, Sreesanth continued to remain in public attention. He worked in a Malayalam film when he was banned and later took part in the reality TV show Bigg Boss

In 2020, Sreesanth’s ban from cricket came to an end following which Kerala Cricket Association declared that they would consider him for upcoming domestic season subject to his fitness. In year 2021, he made a comeback by playing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, India’s premier domestic T20 competition.

To sum up, despite numerous ups and downs including a spot-fixing scandal that nearly ended his career prematurely, Sreesanth is recognized as one of the gifted cricketers who had lot more to offer to Indian cricket than what eventually transpired.
