Salim Aziz “Dillu” Durrani (born 11 December 1934) is an exemplar of crickets who was famed for his bowling and batting skills. He is a hallmark of cricket in India, loved by masses not only for his athletic prowess but also for his charismatic and flamboyant style.

Born in Kabul, Afghanistan, Salim’s family moved to India where he grew up; hence, he played all his career representing the Indian national team. Despite growing up with rules of traditional Afghan games like buzkashi and wrestling, it was cricket that captured young Salim’s passion. He started playing the sport at school level which eventually nurtured into professional competency through hours spent at nets improving his game.

Between 1960 and 1972, Durrani played a total of 29 Test matches for India scoring over 1000 runs. In addition to this, he also took more than 75 wickets demonstrating his incredible all-around skills.
