Born on November 28, 1997, Taniya Bhatia hails from the vibrant city of Chandigarh, India. She is an essential talent contributing to the growth of Indian women’s cricket with her outstanding wicket-keeping and batting abilities.

Taniya’s passion for cricket began at a young age. Her father Sanjay Bhatia, former University cricketer himself inspired her immensely. After observing his daughter’s increasing interest in the sport, he decided to nurture her skills further by enrolling her into one of the prominent local cricket academies when she was just six years old.

  • Influenced by Adam Gilchrist (former Australian international Cricketer), Bhatia shaped her career as a wicketkeeper-batsman and got selected for Punjab senior team when she was only 11).
  • In October of 2018 Taniya made her Twenty20 International (T20I) debut for India against South Africa.
  • The following month, she played her first Women’s One Day International cricket match(ODI) again versus South Africa. In doing so, Bhatia became one of the few women cricketers who have represented India both domestically and internationally before turning 21.
  • In August 2020, she was named in India’s squad for the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier. Despite being amongst the youngest players in the tournament, she performed exceedingly well and proved vital for winning games for their side.
  • Bhatia was also part of India’s squad that reached the final of ICC Women’s World Cup in Australia during March 2020.

With her ever-growing prowess on the field, Bhatia has also begun to earn accolades for her hard work. In 2019, she received the “Best International Cricketer – Female” from Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) for her performances in the 2018-19 season.
