Born on October 29, 1989 in Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, Varun attended Loyola School in Jamshedpur where he honed his overall cricketing abilities. He later joined Kolkata’s MRF Pace Foundation to receive specialised coaching for fast bowling under Dennis Lillee, who was a former Australian cricketer.

  • In November 2011, Varun made his Test debut for the Indian Cricket Team against West Indies at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
  • In the same month, he also played his first One Day International (ODI) match representing India against England at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
  • Aaron has represented several teams like Delhi Daredevils (now known as Delhi Capitals), Gujarat Lions and Royal Challengers Bangalore during various IPL seasons. Currently, he is associated with Kings XI Punjab after being bought by them in 2020 IPL auction.
  • Apart from these achievements, his record of delivering the second fastest ball in the history of IPL while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders during 2007 season holds a special place amongst fans. Clocking a speed of 152 km/hour, this achievement demonstrated his sheer talent.
