Representing India in the field of cricket, Vijay Dahiya is one of the most respected figures in the sport. He was born on May 10, 1973 in Delhi, India and was an impressive wicket-keeper batsman for his country. He made his professional debut for Delhi in first-class cricket during the 1993-94 Ranji Trophy season. As a regular member of his state team for nearly a decade, Dahiya consistently showcased his talent through exceptional batting skills and vigilant wicket-keeping.

In addition to distinguishing himself at the domestic level, Dahiya also made notable contributions to international cricket. His breakthrough came when he was selected into the national squad during Zimbabwe’s tour of India in March 2000 due to his prior impressive performance in first-class cricket.   • Scored a fifty on Test debut against Bangladesh in November 2000
  • Played two Test matches against Australia and nine ODIs from 2000–2001.

Career as Coach

No longer active as a player, Dahiya has transitioned into coaching. In the 2013 season of Indian Premier League, he served as the assistant coach for Kolkata Knight Riders and helped propel the team to their first championship win.

Currently, Vijay Dahiya is the Chief Selector of Delhi cricket and has been instrumental in grooming many young talents who later went on to represent India at international levels. A testament to his brilliant leadership abilities was observed when under his supervision Delhi reached the finals of Ranji Trophy in 2007-08.
