  • Domestic Career: Vinay was recognised as an impactful player at the start towards his domestic career during 2007-10 where he attained some remarkable bowling figures for Karnataka.
  • International Career: His consistent performances led him to make his international debut against Sri Lanka in May 2010. He went onto play 47 ODIs (One Day Internationals), one Test match and nine T20 matches for Team India.
  • IPL Career: Vinay’s participation in IPL started with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) from its inaugural edition(2008) until being bought by Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. Subsequently, he returned back to RCB in 2012. From then onwards, He played for many other teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI).

Vinay has chosen to retire from professional cricket as of February 26th, 2021. His declaration came via a heartfelt note where he announced his departure from all formats of the game after an impressive career spanning almost two decades during which he made significant contributions both at domestic and international levels. He thanked BCCI, Karnataka Cricket Association, his friends, family and coaches who have equally contributed towards his remarkably successful journey. After retiring, Vinay switched towards coaching assignments that includes being appointed as Talent Scout for Mumbai Indians in IPL on April 2nd, 2021.
